Ohio Achievement Tests October 6-10

Students in grade 3 will be taking the Ohio Achievement Assessments in October.  The Achievement Assessments are part of the legislation enacted in House Bill 3, which provides for annual testing in each of grades 3 through 8.  Our students will take this test the week of October 6-10th.

The State department of Education grades all tests and determines the score required to be considered proficient.  The formal results from these test will be distributed the week of December 1st.  If you are unsure of how to access this portal, please be sure to contact your child’s school prior to the end of the school year for instructions.

Parents should note that as provided in the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, unless a student attains the appropriate level of reading competency by the end of grade three, as measured by The Ohio Achievement Assessment (OAA) or a state-approved alternative, s/he will be retained in grade 3.  Special circumstances related to Special Education and/or ESL students MAY exempt your student from the retention provision of the law.

We want every student to perform their very best on each assessment during this week.  Please help us by making sure your child is getting a good night’s rest prior to testing to help encourage a string performance.  Also, attendance is extremely important!  Please DO NOT schedule appointments for your child during these testing dates.  Students who arrive late to school, after testing has started for the day, will be required to take the test on a make-up testing day.

We expect all students to give their best effort and perform to the best of their abilities.  Thanks for your help and support at home.
